A comforting chai latte that is fragrant and gives you all the delicious flavor of fall season.
Every corner in my house is filled with warm scents of cinnamon and spices as I’ve been baking and cooking this whole week. That means more recipes are coming their way to my blog just in time for the coziest season to hit.
This morning was gloomy, and the sun seemed to be hiding somewhere else. It was raining so slightly all night long that I could hear the raindrops streaming down the trees next to windows. Grabbing my sweater, I think a cup of hot latte would be perfect to warm my mood up.
HOT CHAI LATTE
Originating in India centuries ago, chai latte has become featured in many coffee and tea houses. An authentic chai latte is made by mixing milk with hot black tea and a mixture of aromatic herbs and warming spices. The sweetener is usually added during the process, and it varies from granulated sugar, brown sugar or maple syrup. The drink is then topped with foam before serving.
FROTH THE MILK
The frothy milk on top makes your chai latte better and here is how to do it: after heating up the milk, use a handheld milk frother or an immersion blender to blend it until it’s foamy. You can also make frothy milk by shaking it in a jar sealed with a lid (a Mason jar works best) for about a minute too.
HOW TO MAKE CHAI LATTE
Chai Latte is all about black tea infused milk with spices then topped with a foamy milk froth. In a medium saucepan, bring water to a boil. Place tea bags in the pan, cover with a lid and let it steep for 5 minutes. Remove the tea bags.
In another saucepan over medium heat, warm up the milk until it just starts to steam, but not boiling. Add in sugar and all spices and stir until combined. Turn off the heat and allow mixture to sit for 5 minutes to let the flavors blend. Use a handheld frother or immersion blender to froth the milk until foamy on the surface. Pour the tea into a mug or a teapot then add warm milk and stir to combine. Top with a spoonful of milk froth as desired.
