Homemade Pumpkin Spice

November 23, 2021

Homemade pumpkin spice is a spice blend that brings out the comforting and warm flavors, perfect for all your favorite fall treats.

I can feel that fall is falling behind and winter is sneaking around us silently. Leaves keep changing their color and the days are getting colder and colder. I don’t want to rush it to winter though Christmas spirit is what I am waiting for.

Lately I’ve been making so many fall treats and they were all about pumpkin and warming spices. Fall, or any cooler weather is never complete without spices. Pumpkin bread, pumpkin muffins (with a twist of cream cheese swirl), pumpkin soup or even drinks like apple cider, chai latte, they all include a blend of spices. So I decided to make my own pumpkin spice.

This pumpkin spice has a blend of the most popular fall spices which are cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves and allspices. The best part of making it at home is you can tweak the ratios of the ingredients to your personal taste. I use cinnamon as the base ingredient in this pumpkin spice mix then add other spices to balance out the overall flavor. You can adjust the ratio of spices depending on how you like it to be. I find that nutmeg and cloves to be a bit overpowering but a pinch of them adds a deep flavor of pumpkin spice.

Homemade pumpkin spice is easy to make, all you have to do is prepare the spices and mix them together. Let’s whip up a batch of pumpkin spice and make your own fall treats fabulous.
